The Baltimore Ravens are looking to dominate after making the AFC Championship Game and held the top seed in the conference last season. They have a lot of intriguing free agents but it has been announced that they are going to be placing the franchise tag on standout defensive tackle Justin Madubuike.
The two sides are looking towards an extension and have until Tuesday to work it out. If they do not get a long-term extension agreed upon, he would be getting a one-year, $22.102 million fully guaranteed deal. This helps the team get another strong presence back on the defensive line.
Justin Madubuike did extremely well in the regular season with 56 total tackles (38 solo, 18 assisted) with 13 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles.
What does this Baltimore Ravens need to do to get to the Super Bowl?
The Baltimore Ravens are dealing with some significant free agents for their roster and need to figure out how to plug some of the holes here. They are going to have players like wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, guard Kevin Zeitler, linebacker Patrick Queen and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney all entering the free market.
According to Spotrac, the Ravens have just under $16.5 million in cap space and need to get ready to add some players. The defense is going to need to be addressed as they are losing a lot of talent but with quarterback Lamar Jackson and a good running game, the defense does not need to carry them in order to be a legitimate threat.
They were a few plays away from beating the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game but they need to make sure they do not make some of those mistakes. Expect the back seven to get a surge of talent through the draft and free agency.
