Even after failing to make the Super Bowl last season, the Baltimore Ravens are still one of the top teams to look forward to when the NFL returns later this year. The thing is, there’s a chance that several top guys may walk away in free agency, even if they have the best free-agent crop in the coming days.
As it stands, the Ravens have several guys entering free agency with the hope of getting a bigger bag or a more significant role. These include Justin Madubuike, Patrick Queen, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Kevin Zeitler, Jadeveon Clowney, and Geno Stone.
Of the seven, Madubuike has the strongest chance of being retained by the Ravens. Due to his great showing last season, Baltimore is expected to franchise tag him at the very least.
Apart from Madubuike, all the other six guys are all talented and promising pieces in their own right. Whether they stay in Baltimore or sign up with another team in free agency will be known in the coming days.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Best-Ranked Free Agency Crop Is Going To Be a Problem
It’s a given that the Ravens entering free agency will be in demand due to their experience and talent. Jeff Kerr explained why this can be a problem for Baltimore in his article for CBS Sports:
“The Ravens arguably had the most talented roster in football last year, and it shows with the number of free agents available. While Baltimore is going to franchise tag Madubuike (at the very least), Queen is one of the best linebackers available on the open market.
Dobbins and Stone are excellent value for any team that pursues them at their positions. Clowney was one of the best pass rushers late in games last season and Zeitler immediately improves the interior of an offensive line. Baltimore can’t keep everyone, but Madubuike is the top priority,” Kerr wrote.
From this perspective, it looks like the Ravens will lose most of these players since they’re all unrestricted free agents. It really isn’t possible to keep them all since these guys will be demanding more money than what they’ve earned before.
In any case, it’d best to keep an eye out for these free agents to see what happens soon. Without a doubt, there’ll only be a few Baltimore will keep from them in free agency.
