Plenty of Baltimore Ravens fans are excited about the prospect of bringing over Derrick Henry from the Tennessee Titans. King Henry has always been one of the most commanding runners in the NFL, and his powerful running style can still overpower NFL defenses even at 30 years old.
While analysts may warn fans to keep their wits about them when it comes to King Henry’s potential impact in 2024, it’s tough to negotiate with fans who just wants to see their team win another Lombardi trophy.
In fact, a local restaurant has come forward to tempt Henry with their most famous food item if he signed with the team. Surprisingly enough, the King took the bait.
Local restaurant offered free crabcakes to Derrick Henry
Jimmy’s Famous Seafood is an institution in Baltimore that is famous for its crabcakes. In the days leading up to free agency, the restaurant made a hilarious offer on social media that the Alabama standout responded to, as reported by al.com’s Mark Inabinett:
The Baltimore restaurant made the offer to Henry if he would sign with the Ravens via the social-media platform X, writing: “Crabcakes and smashmouth football — it’s what we do.”
Jimmy’s Famous Seafood later upped the offer by adding free crabcake egg rolls for life, too.
Henry noted the offer, replying on Instagram: “I’ll be pullin up fasho,” to which the restaurant responded: “The King hath spoken.”
After Henry’s intentions to join the Ravens were reported on Tuesday, the restaurant posted: “Guess we should start preparing a Royal Feast. Welcome to Baltimore, @last_king_2!”
It’s a hilarious, yet wholesome interaction that made the 30-year-old lovable among the local fanbase. If Henry was planning to go to Baltimore this entire time, it’s a masterstroke of a PR move for him and his team.
Will Derrick Henry make Baltimore Ravens fans happy?
While the interaction Derrick Henry had with Jimmy’s Famous Seafood is wholesome, everything can still change if he cannot perform on the field.
His last season with the Titans saw him run 280 times for 1167 rushing yards and 12 TDs on 4.2 yards per carry. If he keeps up this level of production and help the Ravens win a Super Bowl in the process, he will instantly make himself a local legend in Baltimore.
