BYU beats SMU in game-winning fashion by stopping the Mustangs at the goal line on a two-point conversion. The Cougars wrap up the 2022 season at 8-5 and finish the independence era at 99-56. BYU finishes out 8-5 after a season that didn’t go the way much thought and with a defense that couldn’t figure out to play ball. Mike Leach Condition Mississippi State Head Coach Mike Leach has been hospitalized after suffering some health issues at home early on Sunday. This announcement came from the university and the athletic department. According to reports, Mike Leach was transported to the hospital Sunday afternoon. The university provided no further information on his condition. They ask that the university’s thoughts and prayers be with Mike, Sharon, and their family. BYU Football Welcomes Kelly Poppinga BYU football Welcomes Kelly Poppinga to be the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive assistant Coach for the Cougars. This comes after the hiring of Jay Hill as Defensive Coordinator. He rejoins the Cougars after being with Bronco Mendenhall at Virginia from 2016-2021.
