The New York Giants will have a lot of rookies battling for starting jobs in NFL training camp. Training camp will fully begin next week for the Giants. How will the rookies contribute to New York this season?
Last season, the best New York Giants rookie was cornerback Deonte Banks. He assured himself as the team’s number-one cornerback moving forward. Banks has the mindset of shutting down the other team’s top wide receivers this season.

What will be interesting to see is who will start on the other side of Banks this season. For now, the other starting cornerback for the New York Giants will be Cor’Dale Flott.
Safety Tyler Nubin Is the Rookie To Watch For On the New York Giants In Training Camp

All New York Giants fans know who rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is at this point. There will be other rookies on the roster to watch for during training camp other than him. The one player on the roster that they should watch for is safety Tyler Nubin.
Nubin was a second-round pick from Minnesota. He is projected to be one of the starting safeties. Xavier McKinney left for the Green Bay Packers in NFL free agency. Tyler Nubin could make an immediate impact on New York.
Braulio Perez of gmenhq.com said about the rookie safety potentially making noise for the New York Giants in training camp:
“With Xavier McKinney getting his bag from the Green Bay Packers in free agency, a massive void will be present for the secondary. However, Schoen attacked things early on in the draft, using his leftover second-round pick on Nubin – the Giants traded their other second-rounder as part of the Brian Burns deal.
Nubin was a stud for Minnesota during his college career and several analysts had him as the top-rated safety for the ’24 NFL Draft class. Plenty of Big Blue supporters celebrated the Nubin news and those same people are still fired up over the decision.
The safety showed some flashes of brilliance during OTAs and minicamp, but now things are going to be taken to the next level with the first practice of training camp coming on July 24. With Daniel Jones all set to be fully healthy, Nubin will have the chance to make noise against a healthy, fully-loaded NY starting 11 on offense.
While we don’t want to see Jones struggle throwing the ball around, it’d be quite satisfying to see Nubin break up some of his pass attempts and even post an interception or two ahead of the preseason. Nubin is a gamer and he’s sure to be a great fit for this defense. Soon enough, we’ll see just what he will be able to get done. It’s time for the hype to grow on the Gophers product.”
Last season with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Tyler Nubin played in 12 games. He recorded 53 total tackles, one sack, five interceptions, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The New York Giants will need him to be effective during his rookie season.

It was important for the Giants to draft a safety in the 2024 NFL Draft. Jason Pinnock is projected to be the other starting safety for the New York Giants alongside Tyler Nubin this season.
