Here’s an FAU Owls Halloween special story. They have a Jekyll & Hyde personality, but the Owls do not have two different teams that play their games. The Tennessee Volunteers have the perfect uniforms for Halloween which you can read about here but I digress. The Owls beat UAB at home and the obvious conclusion would be they will beat FIU and MTSU, right? Wrong. But, something happens to the men when they board the plane to fly to the game. Team officials checked the turf on the fields at UTEP, Purdue, Ohio and Denton, Texas and they couldn’t find…

Let’s review the Miami vs Virginia punt fest. Throughout the game, Virginia had opportunities to score but couldn’t score. That has been an issue all season. Miami was unsure on their play calls where they passed when they should run, run when they should pass. Every college football game has these “ebbs and flows” but in this game they were magnified. As if four quarters of regulation weren’t enough, the two teams decided to go four overtime periods. In the end, the Hurricanes “won ugly.” Here we go over each drive and show the critical moments. Lou Hedley is on…

This is a football basics review for Miami Hurricanes. They had 16 missed tackles vs. Duke on Saturday. They also gave up 5 sacks and 15 pressures, so their blocking needs work also.  The breakdown can be found here.  Were they blindsided because the Duke staff had some former Hurricane coaches? Maybe. Could the coaches have made adjustments? YES! Did they? No. I will highlight form tackling here as the coaches may not want to overtly offend the team. The players will sigh and say that they know how to tackle and have been doing it since Pop Warner or…

Duke beats Miami 45-21 and the Hurricanes turned the ball over eight times. The ESPN recap here, said it right, “Duke Rolls Miami.” Duke’s offense and defense performed efficiently. The Hurricanes couldn’t stop the Duke pass rush and they had butterfingers because they kept losing the ball. Eight turnovers. Poor Jake Garcia went into the game because Tyler Van Dyke was knocked out via sack. See Santiago Lopez’s Duke-Miami preview article to note how this win improved Duke’s chances to get to a bowl game. Duke QB Riley Leonard played great Duke quarterback Riley Leonard passed for one touchdown and…

FAU football is ready for a winning streak. Any team at this point in the season could “find answers” and sharpen their team to win more. FAU beat Rice last week which tested their adversity. N’Kosi Perry threw for 125 yards but passed for the game winning touchdown. Look at West Virginia’s road at mid-season to a bowl game by Weston Sensabaugh. Rice had been scoring 28 points per game and the defense had three interceptions in the game. N’Kosi Perry was looking to be a stronger leader. Taggart had something to prove as a coach. The next four games…

It is important to do a penalty review of the Miami Hurricanes vs. Virginia Tech football game.  Several penalties were committed at crucial moments of the game and erased any productivity by the offense and defense. The result of the game was almost as bad as a loss. Let’s review: Miami Hurricanes Personal Foul Penalty Review The Hurricanes committed three personal foul penalties. One personal foul was offset and I counted an unnecessary roughness penalty as a personal foul. The first personal foul penalty that happened caused the team to begin their drive at the 14 yard line instead of…

The Miami Hurricanes football program will play Texas A&M in a prime-time game tonight. On ESPN GameDay, guest analyst Pat McAfee said he was looking for “the Hurricane Swagger.” He said that if the Hurricanes won tonight’s game, they would get the swagger and “the Hurricanes would be back.” The Hurricanes program in the last fifteen years has carried around that dreaded phrase. It has been a “high bar” set by past teams, past eras and circumstances. Tonight’s game will be a test because Texas A&M’s football program has had its pride wounded. The Hurricanes cannot underestimate Texas A&M and…

The FIU Panthers football team beat the Bryant Bulldogs in overtime, 38-37 in an offensive shootout. Kaushik Sampath wrote an article on this site about the “Five Games that should be on every fan’s calendar and this game wouldn’t be on the list. 24/7 sports has an article about the most competitive college football games in September (and this game wasn’t on the list). This game lived up to the competitiveness the teams on his list have. The teams “stood in front of each other” and gave each other their best punches. One team would take a few steps back…

Perry led the offense as he gained chunk plays throwing the ball. The Owls converted on their drives and jumped out to a 20-7 lead before the end of the 1st half. What broke “the back” of Charlotte At the start…
