After suffering injuries in a mass shooting, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell has been released from a Florida hospital.
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, a teenage gunman opened fire outside a private party event in Sanford, Florida. Ten people were reportedly wounded. Dell was one of them.
Tank Dell’s Bio and Stats

24-year-old Tank Dell is from Daytona Beach, Florida.
He is a small, swift wide receiver.
Dell played three years of college ball for the Houston Cougars. He had over one thousand receiving yards in two of those three years. And, he was twice named first-team All-AAC.
The Houston Texans drafted Dell in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Dell’s Rookie Season
Dell had an impressive rookie season for the Texans. He started in eight of the eleven games in which he played. He made 47 catches for over 700 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He quickly became one of CJ Stroud’s favorite targets.
Unfortunately, his rookie season was cut short by injury. In Week 13, he broke a bone in his leg. As a result of a fractured left fibula, he had to undergo season-ending surgery.
Dell Suffers Minor Injuries in Mass Shooting

This shooting in Florida occurred while Dell was on the mend from his leg injury.
According to the Guardian, a “security guard tackled and disarmed the shooter almost immediately, and a second guard handcuffed [the shooter] until sheriff’s deputies arrived….”
Fortunately, none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. A total of ten people were treated at a local hospital for gunshot wounds, and most of the wounds were to the victims’ lower extremities.
The Texans released a statement expressing their condolences and well-wishes for all involved.

It wasn’t a mass shooting.
I wasn’t there, Mr. Frazier. However, Yahoo Sports and other news outlets characterize it as a “mass shooting” based on police reports that gunshots struck more than ten people. I don’t know whether there is an exact definition of “mass shooting”, but ten gunshot victims seems to fit the bill. Fortunately, it does not appear that anybody suffered life-threatening injuries.
