I love sports! I love athletics and I love recreation. I cover the Miami Hurricanes, FIU Panthers and FAU Owls. I will talk about the obvious and paint a picture for you to give your takes as well. Let's chop it up and enjoy sports together!

FAU lost to Western Kentucky, 32-31 in overtime. It was a nailbiter of a game. It was competitive and a moral victory for the FAU team. Western Kentucky had the #2 offense in Conference USA and had been putting up almost 40 points per game all season. FAU was 1-5 on the road but 4-1 at home. They needed a win to qualify for bowl eligibility but more than anything, to beat a really good team. FAU had a chance to win the game in regulation with a Field Goal but couldn’t convert. Finally, Western Kentucky scored a two-point conversion…

Willie Taggart was fired yesterday after the team’s loss to Western Kentucky. FAU finished 5-7 on the season and out of bowl eligibility. The team had a Jekyll and Hyde personality all year. Read my Halloween-themed article on them here. They had a 4-2 record at home beating Rice, UAB and pushing Western Kentucky to overtime. On the flip side, they had a 1-5 record on the road, losing tight games to Purdue and UTEP but getting blown out by Middle Tennessee. Taggart has never been able to repeat his success at Western Kentucky and South Florida. He took promotions…

Let’s do a Miami Hurricanes end-of-season review. It was EMBARRASSING. They ended their season yesterday with a 41-16 loss to Pittsburgh. Coach Mario Cristobal gritted his teeth in the post-game press conference but gave his mantra “we’ve got work to do.” Behind closed doors, things are really bad. It is expected that as many as 30 players will enter the transfer portal for the Hurricanes. Cristobal is fighting an internal culture war against players and parents that have developed a “sense of entitlement.” They have become complacent, expecting their time in the program to be a networking springboard to bring…

The Miami vs. Pittsburgh preview is heavy with storylines. Pittsburgh has played a big part in Miami’s program although Miami has won the last four games against Pitt. Pitt is 7-4 and has won three games in a row. Miami is 5-6 and is facing an internal battle for the soul of the program versus complacent players and parents. Pittsburgh beat Duke last week and they beat Syracuse when they were ranked. The Panthers don’t have Kenny Pickett anymore but Coach Pat Narduzzi is still the coach. Not one Miami fan will forget the last time Pitt beat Miami. The…

Now is a good time to do an FAU Owls end of season review. They finish playing this Saturday against offensive juggernaut Western Kentucky. The Owls could conceivably win the game as they are 4-1 at home. Earlier this year after a win against Rice, Coach Willie Taggart said that the players have tried so hard to win that they have found a way to lose. The Owls are 1-5 on the road and are 5-6 on the season. A closer look at the Owls shows that this team has had high roster turnover in the last few years. The…

It is time for the FIU Panthers end of season review. The FIU Panthers have a bright future. They are 4-7 which is a 400% improvment from last season. They have bright local recruits who are stars on defense. They have found their starting quarterback in Grayson James. And, they have found a stable coach and front office after a turmoil, drama filled offseason. To recap, FIU posted an open head coaching job on the NCAA job board while Butch Davis was still the head coach. Davis abruptly resigned and went to the press saying that the football program was…

The Hurricanes transfer portal in 2023 will be full of a lot of departures.  It has already started. Running back Thad Franklin has announced his entry and Striker Gilbert Frierson announced earlier in the week. The question posed to Mario Cristobal during the post-game press conference at Duke is now a fact. Hurricane players are not playing hard during games. The look on Cristobal’s face during that press conference and the repeating mantra sealed the player’s fate. He was going to go into the next week’s practice and grind that mantra into the players helmet’s. The other message he was…

Let’s get started on the Miami Hurricane off-season checklist. At 5-5, there are still two games remaining but for any Hurricane fan, the season is over. Most likely, the coach’s message has grown stale. A player’s mentality must be: “We stink. This is wrong, that is wrong, but I’M GETTING MY STATS.” It’s obvious that the players on the team have a selfish attitude. It wouldn’t surprise me that many players have this sentiment and a Miami coach also feels this way. Ed Reed and Alonzo Highsmith were hired precisely for moments like these. A great article in “The Athletic”…
