The Arizona Cardinals hold the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which they can use in multiple ways to further improve their roster.
While most analysts see them selecting Marvin Harrison Jr. using the said pick, anything can happen come draft night, as some mock drafts have the Arizona Cardinals trading down in the draft to get more picks or take a different prospect altogether.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the different options in play for the Arizona Cardinals if they’re unable to get Marvin Harrison Jr.
Arizona Cardinals get a different top WR prospect
Assuming the Arizona Cardinals keep the No. 4 pick, if Marvin Harrison Jr. is taken after the first three picks, then they may go on to select Rome Odunze from Washington.
“The Cardinals are desperate for a quarterback-friendly boundary receiver, and they’d get that with Odunze,” wrote Chris Trapasso on CBS Sports in his latest NFL mock draft.
Odunze’s stock has risen in the past few weeks, as he’s expected to be picked within the Top 10 after being dubbed a late first-round pick coming into 2024. Because of his excellent physical tools (6’3″ and 215 pounds), uncanny ability to catch contested balls, and high understanding of the game, Odunze has the potential to be a reliable route runner for Kyler Murray and co.
Arizona Cardinals to trade down
There’s also the possibility that the Arizona Cardinals trade down to get more assets. According to Chad Reuter from NFL.com, they may trade the fourth overall pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for the 12th overall pick (which they can use to get Malik Nabers from LSU), a third-rounder in this year’s draft, and a 2025 first-round pick.
“The Cardinals trade down and still land the playmaker they need in Nabers. His skill set compares favorably to that of former LSU receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was picked 12th overall by the Giants in 2014,” wrote Reuter.
To add to Reuter’s idea, the Arizona Cardinals can use the third-rounder that they got to pick edge rusher Austin Booker from Kansas, who tallied eight sacks and 12 tackles for loss last season after transferring from Minnesota.
