The Arizona Cardinals own the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and their former star wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, has made it clear who he wants the team to pick.
In a recent interview with 12 News, the 11-time Pro Bowler said he is a huge fan of Marvin Harrison Jr., arguably the best wide receiver in this year’s draft class.
“He’s a stud. “If he’s there, I hope we get him. Kyler (Murray) would love to throw it to him. I saw him working out at Ohio State some years back,” said Fitzgerald.
Why Marvin Harrison Jr. fits the Arizona Cardinals like a glove
In his three-year stint with Ohio State, Marvin Harrison Jr. has recorded at least 1,200 receiving yards (1,263 in 2022 and 1,211 in 2023) and 14 receiving touchdowns twice, so it’s not a coincidence that he was a two-time Consensus All-American.
Marvin Harrison Jr. stands at 6’4″ and 205 pounds, and the 2023 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner can cause problems on defense with his speed and ability to break tackles after the catch, similar to his father back in the day.
“He’s a heck of a lot more talented than I was at that age,” said Fitzgerald about Marvin Harrison Jr. “He can take short passes and go long. He can go over the top. He’s a willing participant in terms of blocking in the run game.”
To say that his dad, Marvin Harrison Sr., had a great career is such an understatement. The Pro Football Hall of Fame spent all his years with the Indianapolis Colts, helping them win the Super Bowl XLI. He was also an eight-time Pro Bowler and is a member of both the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.
Marvin Harrison Sr. amassed a total of 1,102 receptions, 128 receiving touchdowns, and 14,570 receiving yards in his 13-year NFL career.
It was back in 2004 when the Arizona Cardinals drafted a wide receiver in the first round. At the time, they picked Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 1,432 passes for 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns in his 17-year NFL career.
