With the 2024 NFL Draft only a month away, and NFL free agency underway, we are starting to see a clearer picture on what will happen in the first round of the NFL Draft.
As of now, the top 3 picks are expected as follows:
- Pick 1: Chicago Bears – QB Caleb Williams
- Pick 2: Washington Commanders – QB Jayden Daniels
- Pick 3: New England Patriots – QB Drake Maye
The Arizona Cardinals currently have the 4th pick, and most believe they will select wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr, son of NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr, out of The Ohio State University.
The Arizona Cardinals Are Huge Favorites to Draft Marvin Harrison Jr
There has been an update in odds via DraftKings Sportsbook on which team will select Marvin Harrison Jr. The Arizona Cardinals are an overwhelming -275 favorite. The Cardinals have a clear need for a wide receiver and haven’t added any top receivers in the free agent market. The Cardinals also saw their top target from a year ago, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown leave the team to join the Kansas City Chiefs.
At a physically imposing 6’4”, 205 pounds, Harrison Jr. is exactly the type of receiver the Cardinals need. This move also fits the Cardinals trend in acquiring big physical wide receivers. Last off-season the Cardinals added Michael Wilson and Zach Pascal, so far this off-season they added Chris Moore, all who stand over 6’1 inch tall.
Marvin Harrison is a can’t miss prospect. He was a superstar at Ohio State becoming a Heisman candidate in 2023. Harrison also put up an Elite 89.9 PFF grade. The last time the Cardinals were in a position to draft a receiver of this caliber it was Larry Fitzgerald… and we saw how that worked out.
Who Else Could Draft Marvin Harrison Jr?
The two teams with the next closest odds are the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots both tied at +350; however, the Bears aren’t much of a threat anymore after trading for star wide receiver Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers leaving the New England Patriots as the only true threat.
The Patriots are currently drafting 3rd overall, one pick before the Cardinals, but it is heavily speculated that the Patriots will be drafting a Quarterback with that pick. New England has failed to find a viable quarterback since Tom Brady’s departure in 2020, and just traded former first round pick Mac Jones. Its hard to believe the Patriots wouldn’t want to set up new head coach Jerrod Mayo with a franchise quarterback his first year on the job.
If the Patriots choose not to select a Quarterback they could draft Harrison, but it is also likely they trade the pick to a team who wants a top 3 quarterback. With the state of the quarterback position in the NFL and the hype this quarterback class is getting its likely the Patriots would be able to find a team willing to give up a haul of picks to move up in the draft. The Patriots would still be able to find a receiver late in this draft as this wide receiver class is full of talent.
Marvin Harrison Jr to the Arizona Cardinals feels like a move that is bound to happen.
