Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is champing at the bit to return to the gridiron in 2023. The franchise signal-caller is nearing his season debut. Per Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network, head coach Jonathan Gannon says the gunslinger is “fired up” to play on Sunday potentially.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray: Awaiting Return from Torn ACL
Murray has missed the entirety of the 2023 season after suffering an ACL injury late last year. The former Heisman Trophy winner started the season on the reserve list but was designated to return from the PUP in mid-October. He logged full practices last week, but the Arizona Cardinals opted to go with Josh Dobbs instead. The latter has since been traded to the Minnesota Vikings, opening the door for Murray’s return or the first NFL start for rookie Clayton Tune.
Kyler Murray: NFL Career
Kyler Murray, the first overall in the 2019 NFL draft, has been at the helm for the Cardinals for the past five seasons. The two-time Pro-Bowler has flashed brilliance, including winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year. His best season came in 2021, with the dual-threat quarterback throwing for 3,787 yards and 24 touchdowns against ten picks while leading the Cards to the playoffs. He also added five scores on the ground.
Murray had an equally impressive sophomore campaign, totaling 37 touchdowns. The franchise cornerstone will take over for a 1-7 Cardinals team that sits in the basement of the NFC West. However, he should have plenty of time to showcase his talents for new head coach Jonathan Gannon.
