Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are hoping to get back on track in Week 9 NFL action when they take on the Los Angeles Rams at Lambeau Field. It has been a rough first season after moving on from superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Many have begun wondering whether or not Love is truly the long-term answer for the Packers.
In a recent quote from general manager Brian Gutekunst, it is clear that even the Packers aren’t sold on Love. He bluntly stated that the next 10 games will be “very important” to figuring out if Love is their guy past the 2023 season.
There is no question that things have not gone extremely smoothly for Love in his first season as the starter in Green Bay. He has struggled with accuracy and the playmakers around him have failed him repeatedly as well. However, his leadership and good teammate mentality have still been on full display.
With eight weeks down in the Love experiment thus far, one NFL scout revealed an area that the young quarterback must improve the most.
“I don’t think Jordan Love has been even a big part of the Packers’ issue. The one area that I do think he needs to improve is his accuracy down the field. If he can develop a consistent deep ball, his game will rise to a new level.”
What’s Next For Jordan Love With The Packers?
Arguably his biggest flaw his been his inability to accurately throw the deep ball. If he can fix that, we can’t help but agree that his game would be taken to the next level. That is exactly what Green Bay needs from him.
So far this season in seven games with the Packers, Jordan Love has completed just 57.7 percent of his pass attempts. He has recorded 1,492 passing yards to go along with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In addition to his passing numbers, Love has racked up 164 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
The talent is there for the young quarterback. He has the arm strength and leadership to be a good NFL quarterback. Love has also flashed great athleticism.
Moving forward, the biggest focus for Love has to be on his arm accuracy. He has the potential to be a long-term franchise quarterback for the Packers, but he has 10 weeks left to prove that. Developing and showing off the ability to throw down the field is a must in those 10 games.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what Jordan Love has in store for us in Week 9 against the Rams. The team is in need of a big bounce-back performance to get some positive momentum and the young quarterback will carry the burden of being the biggest part of whether that happens or not.
