Despite playing only four games in his rookie NFL season, Anthony Richardson caught everyone’s attention while gaining fans in the process.
One of them is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who recently had high praise for the Indianapolis Colts signal-caller in his latest appearance on the show “Speak” on FOX.
“Do you know who has a sneaky big arm? Bake, Baker Mayfield. (Matthew) Stafford has a big arm, Bake’s (Baker Mayfield) has a big arm, I have a big arm, Pat’s (Patrick Mahomes) got a big arm,” said Allen.
“There’s a lot of talented guys in this league, but I think Anthony Richardson might have the biggest one we’ll see,” he added.
Anthony Richardson showed glimpses of his full potential
The PFF recently labeled Anthony Richardson as the breakout candidate for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2024 season because of what he did in 2023. In his abbreviated rookie NFL campaign, the 21-year-old had 577 passing yards, three touchdowns, and only one interception for an 87.3 passer rating.
Unfortunately for the former Florida Gator, Richardson tore his shoulder against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5, cutting his season short.
But lately, his agent, Deiric Jackson, shared a video of him looking comfortable throwing the football. Considering he had surgery three months ago, this is an encouraging sign that he will be ready to go next season.
A look at Anthony’s Richardson big arm
The reason why Anthony Richardson was drafted in the first round by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is primarily because of his undeniable athleticism. During the draft combine, Richardson’s arm length and hand span were measured at 0.83m and 0.27m, respectively.
According to the Relative Athletic Score (RAS) metric, Anthony Richardson is said to be the most athletic quarterback prospect in NFL history at 10.0, making him the third quarterback alongside Daunte Culpepper and Cam Newton to have achieved the perfect score. Richardson also recorded 4.43s during the 40-yard dash, and he had a vertical jump of 40.5 inches.
And just in case you forgot about Richardson’s arm, here are a couple of videos from his rookie campaign to remind you.
