The Cincinnati Bengals made their second significant roster move at quarterback in two days on Saturday as Joe Burrow continues to fight a calf injury in Week 3. The Bengals headed into the weekend unsure if Burrow will play against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.
Burrow re-aggravated his calf injury in the Bengals Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The star quarterback confirmed the injury would be a cause for concern all season. With Burrow’s murky status for Week 3, the Bengals signed Reid Sennett to the practice squad Friday after the New England Patriots poached Will Grier Friday.
The Cincinnati Bengals signed another QB to the practice squad
The Bengals didn’t appear satisfied after adding Sinnett. According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Bengals signed former Cincinnati quarterback A.J. McCarron to the practice squad on Saturday. The Bengals made the move in case Burrow cannot play the Rams.

The Bengals drafted McCarron in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played with the Bengals through the 2017 season. He’s spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, and Atlanta Falcons.
Per Rapoport, McCarron had a sensational season in the XFL in 2023. He led the XFL in passing touchdowns, passer rating, and completion percentage.
AJ McCarron began his career with the Bengals, starting three games as a rookie. Most recently, he led the XFL with 24 TD passes for the St. Louis Battlehawks. https://t.co/8Y7NpzNdwN

We’ll see if McCarron or Sinnett makes QB3 on Sunday. The Bengals have Jake Browning listed as their QB2.
