Adrian Peterson celebrated with fans at the Minnesota Vikings’ 2025 NFL Draft party mere hours earlier, but the scenery suddenly changed; Adrian Peterson was arrested.
The 40-year-old former MVP was arrested early Friday morning for fourth-degree DWI in Minnesota. Peterson was pulled over at approximately 3:20 a.m. after a state trooper clocked his Audi Q5 speeding at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. Peterson, displayed signs of impairment, blew a .14, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in the state.
Mug shots of him were taken, and he was booked into the Hennepin County jail around 5:16 a.m. Adrian Peterson was released soon after that, and his bail was set at $4,000. Court records show his court date is set for May 9.

Adrian Peterson Was A Featured Guest
Peterson was at the U.S. Bank Stadium hours before his arrest as a featured guest at the Vikings’ Draft Day event. Fans were excited to see the franchise’s all-time great running back there. The unfortunate incident quickly dampened the mood once word of his arrest was released.
It’s not Peterson’s first run-in with the law. After pleading no contest to recklessly assaulting his son, the former running back was suspended for nearly all of the 2014 season. In recent years, he’s also had financial and legal problems, including being removed from a plane in 2022 after a domestic dispute that didn’t lead to prosecution.

Adrian Peterson has not played since 2021 and is often viewed as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, with 14,918 rushing yards and 120 touchdowns. Incidents like these continue to render his legacy complicated.
It’s a disappointing turn following what was supposed to be a night of celebration for both Peterson and Vikings fans. With his court date looming and more questions than answers surrounding the incident, this latest chapter adds to a growing list of off-field issues for the former star.
