Trade rumors circulate every offseason, and this offseason is no different. Rumors are swirling around Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys were reportedly also in talks of sending their veteran quarterback to the Cleveland Browns. These rumors, as it turns out, are entirely fake news.
Dak Prescott’s Instagram Post Says It All
Prescott took to Instagram to address the noise in his own way. Posting a family picture with his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, and their children, he captioned it: “Wouldn’t Trade These Days!” While seemingly an innocent tribute to his personal life, many fans and analysts believe the message was also directed at trade speculation. Prescott’s words made it clear—he has no desire to leave Dallas.

No Trade in Sight
NFL Network’s Jane Slater quickly shut down the Prescott-to-Cleveland rumors, calling them completely false. One of the biggest obstacles to a trade is Prescott’s contract, which includes a no-trade clause. This means any move would require his approval, something he has given no indication of granting.
Additionally, the Cowboys would take a massive $148 million salary cap hit if they moved Prescott before June 1, making a trade financially impossible. With no real incentive for Dallas to part ways with their franchise quarterback, the rumors were never rooted in reality.
Injury Recovery Looking Strong
Prescott’s recovery from a serious hamstring injury suffered last season has been going well. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones recently provided an update, saying that the quarterback is ‘thrilled with where he is.’ Prescott has succeeded with rehab, although he will have some limitations during the offseason program.
“Dak’s doing great, he’s coming along. He’s very thrilled with where he is and I know the trainers are too, I feel like he’s doing a hell of a job. He’ll have some limitations yea, but you know Dak, he’s a worker. We’re thrilled with where he is.”
Fans are reassured that Prescott is on schedule to come back fully healthy for the 2025 season because he has continued to post videos of him throwing. However, the Cowboys still need to add to the supporting cast of Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to show the full potential of the team.

Final Thoughts
There is so much speculation about this, but Dak Prescott is not leaving. His contract and the reality of a trade are not happening. Prescott is concentrating on overcoming his injury and is hopeful of being in the saddle when the Cowboys march into the upcoming season. Prescott being in Dallas is not the real question; the question is whether the Cowboys will give him what he needs to succeed.
