Kirk Cousins, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback who has been at the center of trade speculation ever since he decided to take a trip to a Chipotle in Cleveland, Ohio. Cousins was seen Thursday picking up his go-to double chunk: A ‘salad with double chicken’ at a Chipotle in Westlake, Ohio. Leaving aside the fact that an NFL player grabbing lunch usually doesn’t make headlines, the internet quickly whipped into speculation over whether there was more to this visit.

Kirk Cousins is a Starting Quarterback
Cousins wants to be a starting quarterback, which is why he signed a lucrative four-year deal with the Falcons in 2024 — he has been vocal about that. Rumors have begun to circulate, however, since he was replaced as a starter by rookie Michael Penix Jr. last season. Upon seeing that the position of quarterback for the Cleveland Browns remains unclear, some of the fans came up with the very immediate connections that had to be made with Cousins’ presence in town and could be joining the Cleveland Browns.
Adding fuel to the fire, Cousins himself engaged in the online chatter. After a photo surfaced of him posing with Chipotle employees, he responded to a fan’s post with, “Salad with double chicken never fails me.” While his reply didn’t confirm any Browns-related intentions, it did little to quiet the speculation.

However, NFL insiders, including Ian Rapoport, were quick to temper expectations, reporting that Cousins’ trip to Cleveland was “not NFL-related.” Given that he remains under contract with Atlanta and holds a no-trade clause, any move would require his approval and a substantial trade package from the Browns.

Even so, Kirk Cousins’ Cleveland visit stirred excitement among Browns fans, many of whom recall his previous connection with head coach Kevin Stefanski, who served as his offensive coordinator in Minnesota. With the Browns holding the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, their quarterback decision remains uncertain. If they choose not to draft a QB, Cousins could remain an intriguing—though complicated—option. For now, Browns fans may just have to settle for the knowledge that, at the very least, Cousins has found a favorite lunch spot in town.
