The Ohio State Buckeyes had its spring game on Saturday. One player who fans wanted to keep a close eye on was running back James Peoples.

Peoples was the third running back on the Buckeyes depth chart during the 2024 college football season. Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson were the top two running backs for Ohio State during the 2024 season. They both rushed for over 1000 yards and are expected to be taken within the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. Peoples will most likely be the starting running back for Ohio State by the time the fall rolls around for this football program.
Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach Ryan Day Makes Crazy James Peoples Announcement

During the spring game. Peoples only had a pair of carries for six yards. However, after the spring game ended, the Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day decided to tell something bold about Peoples to the media. Day said to Stefan Krajisnik of cleveland.com,
“James has a chance to be a special back – but still, hasn’t played a whole bunch of football. He’s got great energy. He’s really matured. He’s very coachable. He’s seen the way it’s supposed to look. He knows what the standard is.”
During the 2024 college football season in limited action, he rushed for 197 yards on 49 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 4.0 yards per rush. The 5’10” 203 lbs running back is looking to turn heads for his upcoming sophomore season with Ohio State. There is no doubt that he is going to have to perform at a high level if the Buckeyes want to get back to the mountain top of college football in 2025.
