3 Reasons Why the Miami Dolphins Will Miss the Playoffs

The AFC is loaded this season with incredible teams trying to make the postseason. Some of the preseason favorites, like the Miami Dolphins, are going to miss the playoffs entirely. The Dolphins finished 9-8 in 2022 and made a Wild Card spot before losing to the Buffalo Bills and had a -2 point differential during the regular season. However, they are not going to be playing after Week 17 this season.

    The Miami Dolphins’ Secondary Woes

The Dolphins struggled last season trying to defend the pass as they ranked 27th with 234.8 passing yards allowed per game.  They could not force interceptions as the team finished with just eight on the entire season. They attempted to fix the secondary by trading for cornerback Jalen Ramsey but he was injured in practice and potentially can miss the entire season.

They also lost cornerback Keion Crossen for the entire year as well to a “freak injury” and cannot afford the secondary injuries before Week 1.

The Miami Dolphins Have an “Interesting” roster

The Dolphins released running back Myles Gaskins and while people believed that would wind up being the piece to get Jonathan Taylor, nothing of the sort happened. The running back room is decent with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson but nothing scares defenses like the Jets have with Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall. Outside of the wide receivers and their kicker, where is there a massive plus on the roster?

The Miami Dolphins Have Tough Schedule

The Miami Dolphins have to face off against the AFC West and the NFC East, two of the toughest divisions in the sport. They also have six divisional games against New England, New York and Buffalo. Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers are the better quarterbacks and New England still has Bill Belichick calling the shots so it’s difficult to count them out.

One, if not two teams from the AFC East are going to miss the postseason and the Miami Dolphins happen to be one of them. Their “give me” games seem to be against Tennesee, Carolina and Washington but outside of that they are going to battle for wins.
