As the NFL gets set to enter Week 7 action, we are getting a clearer picture of who the contenders and pretenders are. However, there are still a lot of teams on the bubble through Week 6.
Which NFL teams need a win the most this weekend? Here are the three who would benefit the most.
1. Green Bay Packers
The team that I think needs to win the most this weekend is the Green Bay Packers. They currently have a 2-3 record and go on the road to face the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The Packers are coming off of a bye. Before that, they had a devastating Week 5 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Quarterback Jordan Love has been struggling of late. He has thrown six interceptions in his last three games after not throwing one in his first two games.
This is his best chance to get back on track. Why is this?
The Denver Broncos’ defense allows more points per game than any team in the NFL. They also rank 30th in passing yards allowed per game (268).
Jordan Love is also facing a lot of individual pressure. This is his first year starting for the Packers after sitting on the bench for three years.
There is a lot to live up to, considering Aaron Rodgers held the Packers’ starting quarterback job for 15 seasons. Before that, Packers’ legend Brett Favre had the job for 16 seasons.
As you can see, Green Bay is used to consistent quarterback play. So far, Love has failed to provide that. This Sunday is a chance for him to show Packers fans and the rest of the NFL that he can be the guy.
2. Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks host the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. Right now, they are one of the biggest favorites in Week 7.
Seattle has a chance to separate themselves from the rest of the NFC teams here. Going into this week, they are just one of six teams in the NFC that are over .500. If they win on Sunday, they can improve their record to 4-2 and establish themselves as a solid playoff contender in the NFC.
This is also going to be one of the best opportunities left this season for the Seahawks to collect a win. Seattle has one of the most difficult schedules remaining in the NFL.
They only have three games left against teams who are currently under .500. They play the Cardinals in two of those games.
Considering that their road only gets tougher from here, the Seahawks need to take advantage of chances like this to gain wins and separation in the standings.
3. Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders have a similar scheduling issue as the Seahawks. They also only have three games remaining against teams who are currently under .500.
They go on the road to face the New York Giants on Sunday. The Giants are struggling this season with just a 1-5 record. On top of this, they have not scored a touchdown at home all season.
It is no secret that the Commanders have struggled to protect quarterback Sam Howell. They lead the league in sacks allowed (34) this season.
Fortunately for them, they are facing a team with just as many problems protecting their quarterback this season. The Giants are right behind the Commanders in this category, allowing 33 sacks so far this season.
If the Washington Commanders can take care of business here, that will give them a huge buffer in the NFC Wild Card race and get them over .500.
