For my next mock draft of the year, we will be heading out east to do the 2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft. This mock draft will consist of each member of the division owning their own draft pick and no extra picks. The Washington Commanders lead the mock draft with pick number two overall. Not far behind, we have the New York Giants picking at pick number five overall. After the fifth overall pick, the NFC East does not show up again until pick number 26, where the Philadelphia Eagles are currently sitting, followed closely by the Dallas Cowboys at pick 30.
2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft Pick #2
Washington Commanders: Caleb Williams QB USC
With the Chicago Bears taking Jayden Daniels in this 2024 NFC East 1st round mock draft the quarterback from LSU, the Washington Commanders take the projected top quarterback of the draft, Caleb Williams, from USC. The Washington Commanders have not had a feasible quarterback since their days of Kirk Cousins. Since Kirk Cousins left after the 2017 season, the Commanders have had 12 different quarterbacks start for them in 6 years. With the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they will no longer have to worry about their quarterback situation.
Caleb Williams has put up some stellar numbers in his three years at USC. He has put up over 10,000 passing yards with a total of 93 touchdowns. Williams took home the Heisman in 2022 with a career year of over 4,500 passing yards and 42 passing touchdowns while throwing only five interceptions. Not only can Williams throw the ball, he can also move it with his legs. In his college career, Williams was 40 yards shy of putting up 1,000 rushing yards and scored 27 times with his legs.
Caleb Williams will most likely be the 13th quarterback to start for the Washington Commanders in 7 years, and as all Commander fans are hoping, he will be the only quarterback to start for the next 13 years! Williams has all the talent and skill needed to be the next franchise quarterback for the Commanders. This should also make Williams very happy since it seems that he does not want to end up in Chicago.

2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft Pick #5
New York Giants: Drake Maye QB North Carolina
With Daniel Jones’ time clearly having run out and while the Tommy Devito story this year has been a fun one, the New York Giants have a clear shot at grabbing their quarterback of the future in Drake Maye in this 2024 NFC East 1st round mock draft. Caleb Williams went off the board to the Washington Commanders at number two overall in this mock draft, which is good , because Drake Maye is a better fit for this New York Giants offense.
When looking at a good comparison for Drake Maye, a good for comparison for Maye is Josh Allen. The are similar in size and will probably have a similar draft story by not being favorites. Having not been in Heisman talks. Not being the most flashy quarterback, they are not known for their big flashy plays, but will get the job done.
Drake Maye has a bigger size and better arm, which should help him have a great NFL career. Maye will be plugged into an offense that has a stud running back, a top-five tight end when healthy, and a young, developing wide receiver core. Brian Daball should be jumping at this opportunity to grab Drake Maye with the possibility of turning him into the next Josh Allen.
2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft Pick #26
Philedalphia Eagles: Kamari Lassiter CB Georgia
With pick number 26 overall of this 2024 NFC East 1st round mock draft, in this mock draft, the Philadelphia Eagles once again go back to the Georgia Bulldogs for their pick and select cornerback Karmari Lassiter. The Eagles are a team that has very few weaknesses. They have their franchise quarterback in Jalen Hurts, have a full running back room, plenty of pass catchers, one of the best offensive lines in the league, and a solid defensive front seven.
Their biggest weakness is their defensive backs. The Philadelphia Eagles are currently ranked 28th in passing yards allowed, with an average of 249.4 yards a game. They have tried to build up their defensive backs this year with drafting former Georgia Bulldog, Kelee ring in the draft last year. They signed Terrell Edmunds last offseason and then tried to upgrade by trading Edmunds to the Titans for All-pro safety Kevin Byard.
In his Junior year at Georgia, Kamari Lassiter went from giving up 419 yards in the season to only giving up 160 yards. He has only given up two touchdowns in his two years as a starter at Georgia. If Lassiter keeps trending in this direction, he will be a perfect shutdown corner for the Eagles. Lassiter will have the opportunity to help improve this defense, especially if his former teammate and current Eagles player, Kelee Ringo, takes a big jump defensively.
2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft Pick #30
Dallas Cowboys: Adonai Mitchell WR Texas
To end this 2024 NFC East 1st Round Mock Draft the Dallas Cowboys stay in Texas and head down to Austin, Texas, and draft a spectacular wide receiver from the University of Texas and draft Adonai Mitchell. This is a perfect match for the Dallas Cowboys. While there are other holes the Cowboys could address with this pick, Mitchell was the best player available and will finally give them a number two receiver across from CeeDee Lamb.
Adonai Mitchell is a big fella standing in at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing in at 196 pounds. In his one year at Texas, Mitchell put up 55 receptions, recording 845 yards with 11 touchdowns. The Dallas Cowboys have not found a talent to put opposite of CeeDee Lamb since drafting Lamb in 2020. Mitchell can be the answer. With his big size and speed, it will force the defenders to pick and choose who to double. Adding Adonai Mitchell to a group with CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson, and Brandin Cooks gives Dak Prescott multiple targets to throw to in this pass-heavy offense that Mike McCarthy likes to run.
The addition of Adonai Mitchell to the Dallas Cowboys also gives them a chance to have two receivers break 1,000 yards in a season, which has not happened since 2019 with the duo of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. It also gives the Dallas Cowboys the chance to have a trio record of over 1,000 receiving yards each with Mitchell, Lamb, and Ferguson. This has not happened in Cowboys history, and it last happened with the Arizona Cardinals in 2008.
The Dallas Cowboys pass-heavy offense needs more weapons, and Adonai Mitchell would be a great fit for the Cowboys. He has the size and speed to be a spectacular wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys and make big plays not only in his rookie year but for years to come.
