The Philadelphia Eagles traded to help out one of the missing pieces for their defense this season. The Eagles needed help with their secondary. They added a safety to the roster in Week 8.

The Philadelphia Eagles trade for an All-Pro safety
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Eagles acquired veteran safety Kevin Byard in a trade from the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans drafted Byard in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors for his play during the 2017 and 2021 seasons.
Per Adam Schefter, the Eagles sent the Titans their 2024 fifth and sixth-round picks. The Eagles also traded safety Terrell Edmunds to the Titans.

Byard is great at ball production. He was the NFL’s co-leader in interceptions for the 2017 season with eight interceptions.
Byard is not having a great season by his standards. He has no interceptions this season. Byard has earned a 67.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus for his play with the Titans in 2023.
