The Houston Texans are gearing up for the 2024 season. This is a year that they can really take things to another level with the aidditons that they made in the offseason, and with another year of their young star quarterback C.J. Stroud. However, the team will be without a couple of players at OTAs this week.
Houston Texans Will Be Without 2 Stars For OTAs

For the Texans, both their new star receiver Stefon Diggs and their best offensive linemen Laremy Tunsil did not show up to the start of OTAs and it does not appear that they will. While some organizations take these voluntary practices very seriously, it makes sense that these veterans would not show up as much.
These are guys who have been around the league for a while and the main reason for them to show up is just to be around the new teammates. For Diggs however, this a new team with a new system and a new quarterback so it is a bit strange that he would not show up to get the needed reps with his new team and QB.
These two older guys must be doing their own thing, and coach Demeco Ryans has not made any comment on the absence of these guys. This will be a lot more noteworthy if these two stars do not show up for the mandatory minicamp in June. Those practices are much more important, and specifically for Diggs, he will need to be there to gain very needed reps with Stroud.
Training camp is looming and Diggs will need to get on the same page as his offense if he wants to be the number on option for a team that has many young star receivers.

Diggs was acquired in the offseason, as one of the biggest moves in 2024. He will give Stroud a true number one option on the offensive side of the ball, but he did not finish his last season in Buffalo on such a high. His season production was fantastic as he totaled: 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. But he did seem to be very quite down the stretch of the season and in the playoffs.
Tunsil, on the other hand, has spent the last five seasons in Houston and has been the number one linemen for the team during that stretch. He is crucial to have on the field for Stroud, and it makes sense that the older linemen would not show up for OTAs.
The Texans had an incredible year this past season, shooting on to the scene with Stroud and a mix of great defense and high flying offense. They have made tons of great moves to add to their talent, and should be quite a scary team this year.
