The Georgia Bulldogs saw just two players elect to depart from the program. Wide receiver Tyler Williams, found a new home in Minnesota. The Bulldogs also lost offensive lineman Chad Lindberg, who entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer prior to spring practice, and announced he would be transferring to Rice. While the Bulldogs did only lose two players in this window, the team has received eight inbound transfers this year.
That includes Trevor Etienne, Colbie Young, London Humphreys, Michael Jackson III, Xzavier McLeod, Jake Pope, quarterback Jaden Rashada, and tight end Benjamin Yurosek who will join the team later this summer. Let’s take a look at how these Bulldogs transfers and returning players are looking after the conclusion of G-Day, which is Georgia’s big Spring football scrimmage.
A Look At Georgia Bulldogs In The Spring Practices And On G-Day
Georgia football fans got a chance to see the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs in action at G-Day, and boy did the dogs put on a show. For all of the offensive talk this spring, it was that Bulldogs defense that stole the show. The linebackers flew around the field, the defensive line stood up multiple times, and the secondary was stingy despite being without Malaki Starks. The game ended in a 20-20 tie, and the defensive recruits are starting to shine bright. This Bulldogs defense has had to listen to everyone hyping up their offense, so they were more motivated than ever to show out on G-Day.
The running back room looks like it’s going to be competitive. While Etienne is the favorite to start, he looked like he was the third-best back out there on G-Day. Both Andrew Paul and Roderick Robinson are healthy and ran all over the defense in the spring game, and Branson Robinson is projected to return from injury in the fall. Trevor Etienne’s ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is going to come in handy, and will probably be what keeps him at RB1. South Carolina transfer Xzavier McCleod played with a great motor all day, finishing with three tackles and a sack.
What Transfers and Returning Players Showed Out On G-Day For The Bulldogs
McCleod, Jamaal Jarrett, and Jordan Hall are going to be a solid veteran group up front and can make a big impact. The biggest showing of G-Day was Georgia wide receiver Dominic Lovett, who has been praised all spring and showed why by dominating the first-team defense who just could not cover him. Lovett enters his second season in Athens and is primed and ready for a breakout season in 2024. Another player who is primed and ready to go for the Bulldogs is Miami transfer Colbie Young, who will make a bigger impact quicker than Florida transfer, Etienne.
Colbie Young, who is in his first year at Georgia after transferring from Miami, also looked like a star. The 6’3 wideout made a ton of contested catches on G-Day. Young looked as good as advertised, making a couple of tough catches including one for a touchdown. Young has a real shot at becoming one of those “Javon Wims-type” receivers who are as big and as physical on the goal line as any tight end in college football. The 2024 college football season is quickly approaching and this Georgia Bulldogs team is looking sharp on both offense and defense so look for the dogs to be a top team in not only the SEC but in all of college football.
