College football player Chazan Page represented the Tennessee State Tigers well
According to The Tennessean and WTVF, Chazan Page, who was 20-years-old at the time of death, died at the Skyline Medical Center after a vehicle hit him on Gallatin Pike in Nashville around 1:30 a.m.
Page was with his girlfriend and several friends at the time of the incident. He reportedly saved his girlfriend’s life by pushing her out of the way. Page’s girlfriend, Jayda Jernigan, described the situation in an article from WSBTV.
“He pushed me out of the way,” Jayda Jernigan told WZTV. “And he got the brunt of it.”
“A car was going probably like 100 miles an hour down the street,” Jernigan told WZTV. “We were walking, but I was on the side where the car was. It happened so fast.”
“I didn’t realize what happened until I looked over my shoulder and he wasn’t there,” Jernigan told WSMV-TV.
The vehicle in question fled the scene after Page was hit.
Chazan Page was an anchor for the Tennessee State Tigers’ offensive line
Before Page was a college football player, he attended Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn. At Lipscomb Academy Page was an All-Region player.
Page went on to become an anchor for the Tennessee State offensive line. The 6-foot-1, 295-pound offensive lineman was a mainstay for the Tigers in 2022 and 2023.
Page, a center, was one of just three offensive linemen to start every game for Tennessee State in both of those years. He most recently participated in the Tennessee State Blue and White Spring Game.
His brother, Chandon Page, is a defensive lineman for the Tigers. Chazan Page had just six classes left before he got his degree which he planned to use to become a physical therapist for athletes.
