The Chargers had a disappointing season in 2021. All they had to do was stop Josh Jacobs on a long third down run to keep the Raiders out of field goal range. The Raiders kicked a long, game ending field goal which sent them to playoffs and sent the Chargers home. The Chargers knew they had to adds some reinforcement to their team if they want to compete for a Super Bowl. Therefore, they added some key players to their 27th ranked defense. Coming into this season, the Chargers have +1600 odds to win the Super Bowl, which I think is a great bet.
Chargers New Additions on Defense
The Chargers had one of the worst defenses in the league last year and still almost made the playoffs. Their postseason came down to one play and they failed to execute. This offseason, they went and signed Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson. These were the top two defensive players on the market this offseason and the Chargers added them both. Now, the Chargers have the likes of Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, J.C. Jackson, and Derwin James on their defense. These two new additions give the Chargers the potential of becoming a top 5 defense in the NFL.
Chargers Continue to Show Their Elite Offense
The Chargers have one of the best offenses in the league and will continue to get better. Justin Herbert has shown he is a top 5 quarterback in the league with only two seasons under center. Austin Ekeler and new addition, Isaiah Spiller will control the backfield and have the potential to put up some electric numbers as a duo. Both have great strength and speed, as well as being able to be receiving running backs. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams will continue to lead the wide receiver core. These two are one of the best one two punches in the NFL with Allen having the route running and Williams having the size.
The Chargers have one of the most talented squads in the NFL without a doubt. Therefore, their +1600 odds to win the Super Bowl this season looks like a great bet. They have a top 5 offense and now a potential top 5 defense in the league and that shows that they are ready for anyone this season. With that being said, if you are a fan or just like to bet, I would hop on these odds before they are cut in half when the season starts.
