The Arizona Wildcats recently lost a four-star commitment in the 2025 recruiting class and so could lose another with the way things are trending.
Muizz Tounkara is a prized wide receiver commitment for the Arizona Wildcats as a player the team feels is severely undervalued. Tounkara made his collegiate decision between Arizona and Wisconsin, with the wide receiver opting to join the Wildcats. However, Tounkara had been linked to the Florida Gators recently, and could be the next player out the door for the Arizona.
The Arizona Wildcats have had a tumultuous season that has seen the team completely fall off of a cliff on offense. The Wildcats were supposed to be a high-powered scoring machine with the wide receiver-quarterback duo teams would envy. However, it has been the opposite with a record of 4-6 this season and just two Big 12 Conferences wins against Houston and Utah.
With the Arizona Wildcats struggles on the field leading to a five-game conference losing streak, the recruiting department has taken a hit. Four-star Texas wide receiver Terry Shelton announced he would end his commitment to the Wildcats. Shelton is a dynamic receiver and previously was the top-ranked recruit in the Arizona Wildcats class, which is now seemingly crumbling.
Fellow Texas native and Arizona wide receiver commitment Muizz Tounkara posted an image of Shelton onto social media after his announcement. The caption stated, “Where are we going bro??”, coming just days after Tounkara announced the Florida Gators were a team showing heavy interest in an interview with On3 Sports. Tounkara is incredibly close with Shelton, and considers the fellow wide receiver a “brother” on and off of the field.

The wide receiver has not voiced whether or not he would exit his commitment as well, but has been considered a potential flip candidate as the disaster season continues for Arizona.
Could Muizz Tounkara, Others Leave the Arizona Wildcats Ahead Before the 2024 Season Ends?
As disastrous of a season as it has been for the Arizona Wildcats, winning the final two games and making a bowl would soothe some things over.
Admittedly, making and potentially winning a bowl game does not necessarily cure everything that has gone wrong this season. However, if the Arizona Wildcats can look competitive and finish the season with six wins, many recruits may opt to stay with the program. Some current players may still opt to transfer given the season and possible NIL opportunities, but a bowl game would be fantastic for the program.
Currently the only two teams stand in the way of that potentially happening are TCU and Arizona State, who could be tough wins. Arizona State always plays their hardest and produces hard-fought rivalry games against the Wildcats. The Horned Frogs, however, have been two different teams this year between being blown-out by Houston to defeating out of conference Stanford.
