Week 1 of the Tennessee Titans preseason game resulted in a 23-10 loss. Preseason game wins and losses matter little. Coaches are more focused on evaluating positional talent and trying to build out a depth chart in three quick games. Malik Willis easily stood out for the Titans in week one.
The Week 2 preseason 13-3 win against The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went a little differently for Willis. He once again got the start and immediately faced fierce pressure from the Buccaneer defense. The first play of the game, Willis made a really strong throw over the middle to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. After that, the Bucs locked down and forced a turnover on downs.
In the 2nd quarter, the Titans were finally able to muster a handful of scoring drives. Most notably, Malik Willis threw his first career touchdown pass to Chigoziem Okonkwo. The six yard pass would be the only touchdown in the game. Truthfully, the defenses for each team looked to be outmatching the opposing offenses.
Willis’ statline ended up 7/17 for 80 yards and a touchdown pass. He rushed for 42 yards and sacked 3 times. Ultimately, not a bad day for a young quarterback facing an aggressive defense.
The Tennessee Titans will host the Arizona Cardinals for the final week of preseason. Kickoff is set for Saturday, August 27th at 7 p.m. EST.
