It’s no secret with the ever-changing college football landscape, the transfer portal has turned into the Wild West. However, Washington State Football must keep its head on a swivel even when its players aren’t in the portal. Per Fox Sports analyst Brock Huard, WSU quarterback Cam Ward has at least ten NIL offers at $1 million.

Ward finished fourth in the NCAA in passing yards behind stars Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., and Jayden Daniels. If Ward does indeed pursue a NIL deal elsewhere, he would immediately become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal.
Cam Ward: Incarnate Word to Washington State Football
Cam Ward shined at Incarnate Word from 2020-2021, throwing 47 touchdowns as a sophomore before transferring to Washington State for the 2022 season. Ward played well in his first season with the Cougars, throwing for 3,232 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine picks. The 21-year-old showed improvement in 2023, tossing 25 touchdowns to seven picks. He also added eight touchdowns on the ground. His best game of the season came against a stout Oregon State defense in late September, going 28 of 34 for 404 yards and four scores. He also ran nine times for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Ward has one year of eligibility remaining. Despite not adding his name to the transfer portal, rumors have swirled around his willingness to leave the Washington State football program.
Miami, Ohio State, Texas A&M: Among Those Interested in Cam Ward
The Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Texas A&M Aggies have gotten linked to Washington State football quarterback Cam Ward. Miami gunslinger Tyler Van Dyke entered the transfer portal earlier this week, opening the door for a new starting quarterback for the Hurricanes. The Ohio State Buckeyes could look to replace quarterback Kyle McCord for the 2024 season. He is the first Buckeyes quarterback to not throw over 25 touchdowns in a season (non-COVID) since J.T. Barrett in 2016. Meanwhile, the Texas A&M Aggies lost starting quarterback Max Johnson to the transfer portal.
The Auburn Tigers and Washington Huskies have also shown interest in Ward, per Blue Blood Bias. Auburn went 6-6 this season despite starting quarterback Payton Thorne throwing just 15 touchdowns to nine picks. Washington will need to replace star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in 2024. The sixth-year senior threw 32 touchdowns while leading the Huskies to an undefeated regular season in 2023.
