The Washington Commanders had one of the worst defenses in the league last season, allowing the most points, the most total yards, the most passing yards, and the 6th-most rushing yards.
With the hire of Dan Quinn as their next head coach, the team has spent the offseason trying to improve their defense and signed an elite linebacker to a contract.
The Washington Commanders signed a 9x Pro Bowl LB to a contract

According to Ian Rapoport, Washington signed Bobby Wagner to a 1-year contract worth up to $8.5 million and $6 million guaranteed.
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Wagner in the 2nd round, 47th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. Wagner has had a great NFL career, earning nine Pro Bowls and six first-team All-Pro honors in his 12-year career. He has played in 185 games, starting in 183, and has 1,706 tackles, 89 for a loss, 94 QB hits, 33 sacks, 13 interceptions, one pick-six, 68 pass deflections, and six forced fumbles.

Wagner played in 17 games, starting in 16, and had 183 tackles, 11 for a loss, six QB hits, 3.5 sacks, and three pass deflections, making it to his 9th Pro Bowl.
Wagner wasn’t the only LB signed

Washington also signed Frankie Luvu to a 3-year contract worth up to $36 million. Luvu has developed into one of the most underrated linebackers in the league after having a breakout 2023 campaign with 125 tackles, ten for a loss, 11 QB hits, 5.5 sacks, five pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.
Who is the other starter?

Jamin Davis will likely be the other starting linebacker next season. Davis was drafted in the 1st round, 19th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, and hasn’t found his footing in the NFL.
He has 269 tackles, 20 for a loss, ten QB hits, seven sacks, one interception, six pass deflections, and two forced fumbles in his career.
Washington will likely decline his 5th-year option for the 2025 season.
