The Washington Commanders enter the 2024 season with new heights and expectations. Washington is looking to turn the page with Jayden Daniels as the signal caller. He was the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.
The Commanders have a chance to be successful in Daniels’s first season because the NFC East has a lot of question marks. Many people are wondering if it is worth it to take Jayden Daniels in fantasy drafts.
PFF Makes Bold Prediction For Washington Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels For the 2024 Season
Pro Football Focus writer Nathan Jahnke made five different bold predictions for the 2024 fantasy football season. The bold prediction he made about Jayden Daniels is that he will average at least 21 fantasy points per game this season. Jahnke also added:
“Quarterbacks who excel at running the ball are extremely valuable in fantasy football. Justin Fields finished as QB6 in 2022, thanks to his 1,143 rushing yards. Jalen Hurts averaged over 23 fantasy points per start in 2020 despite completing 51.9% of his passes. That same season, Taysom Hill averaged 21.6 fantasy points per game during his four starts at quarterback.
Daniels has a chance to be a better runner and passer than those players in his first season.
Daniels put up a 91.5 PFF rushing grade throughout his college career, the highest mark among Power Five quarterbacks over the last decade. He also racked up the most missed tackles forced, while Jackson and Hurts ranked in the top five.
Not only was his running quality superior, but he also scrambled far more than any other quarterback. He scrambled 258 times during his college career, the most by any quarterback in the last decade. The next closest had 180 scrambles.
This could result in more rushing attempts and big runs from Daniels than other rushing quarterbacks. Every quarterback with 100 or more rushing attempts in the last decade has averaged at least 18 fantasy points per start — a number Daniels should easily achieve.”
If he does average 21 points per game in fantasy, he is going to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Jayden Daniels does not have much-receiving help around him outside of Terry McLaurin.
Heisman Trophy Winner Last Season
Daniels won the Heisman Trophy last season with the LSU Tigers. In 12 games played, he threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Jayden Daniels also rushed for 1,134 yards on 135 carries and 10 touchdowns, along with averaging 8.4 yards per rush.
It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers he can put up in his rookie season with the Washington Commanders. Washington needs an organizational boost.
