The Washington Commanders are in the midst of their Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks and will be without one of their top players for the remainder of the game. During the first quarter of their NFC matchup, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. had a helmet-to-helmet hit with wide receiver Tyler Lockett while making a tackle.

The Commanders were assessed a penalty for the hit as they ruled it unnecessary roughness. However, Forbes Jr. was ejected for the remainder of the game. With the Washington Commanders already struggling and trying to build for the future, this was a game-changing play.

This game is going to be under the microscope now as many people had issues with the ejection. It will be interesting to see how the game goes on as the ejection happened early in the first quarter and will be a major talking point.

What does the future for the Washington Commanders look like?

The Washington Commanders are in the middle of the season as they are third in the NFC East with a 4-5 record. They surprisingly have an outside chance of securing the final NFC Wild Card spot. After trading away defensive ends Montez Sweat and Chase Young before this season’s trade deadline.

However, they seem to have a good amount of building blocks and after the trade have secured nine picks in the 2024 NFL draft to address some issues, as well as having the most projected cap space in 2024 with more than $87 million.

They can really begin to turn things around at an extremely fast pace as things can open up as soon as next season while potentially being able to have a playoff spot this season to build off of.  With some big names like running back Antonio Gibson and wide receiver Curtis Samuel, things are going to be interesting. That’s not even mentioning the coaching staff as coach Ron Rivera has been rumored to be on the hot seat for the better part of two years.

In a division with the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles dominating, it is hard for the Washington Commanders to battle. However, they have a lot of ability to improve the roster and continue getting progression out of their team so the future definitely appears to be bright in D.C.
