The Michigan Wolverines have a chance to redeem themselves in 2025 after just going 7-5 in 2024. Michigan will have a chance to grow because of incoming freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood (19) warm up before the spring game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Underwood was the number one overall recruit in the class of 2025 and was a five-star recruit. He was originally committed to go to the LSU Tigers, but Underwood decided to flip and stay home at Michigan. The Wolverines are looking to be contenders once again in the BIG10 Conference. This will be a very big season for head coach Sherrone Moore.

College Football Analyst Believes Michigan Wolverines Bryce Underwood Will Be Starter For Next Few Years

Michigan tight ends coach Steve Casula, left, talks to quarterback Bryce Underwood (19) at warm up before the spring game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Michigan had a quarterback issue during the 2024 college football season after J.J. McCarthy departed for the NFL. In 2025, it appears as if the Wolverines will be in a better situation under center. The freshman Underwood is in line to be the starting quarterback. He appears to be the starting quarterback for this program for the next few years.

Adam Rittenberg said about Underwood being at least a multi-year starter for Michigan,

” Extremely. The Wolverines have gone all in with Underwood, their first mega high school signing of the NIL era. Unless things go very wrong, Underwood will be leading Michigan’s offense through the 2026 season and beyond.”

There is no doubt that Underwood could be one of the best freshmen in the country during the 2025 college football season. It may not be this season that Michigan is back in the national championship picture, but it might be the season after depending on how Underwood progresses during his freshman season.
