DeMeco Ryans has unquestionably been one of the successes of the 2023 season, along with, no doubt – his quarterback CJ Stroud.
DeMeco Ryans Showing His An Elite Head Coach In The Making
The Houston Texans seem to now not only have found another franchise quarterback after trading away controversial former star signal caller, Deshaun Watson, in CJ Stroud, but their head coach of the future in Ryans – who, unlike the Texans’ last long term head coach, Bill O’Brien, seems to be welcomed by both fans and management alike.
By winning (in a trampling) a playoff game against the favored Cleveland Browns in his very first year, it feels like DeMeco Ryans should now be the favorite to win the AP Coach Of The Year award, after beating his main competition and former recipient, Kevin Stefanski.
Now, video has surfaced showing a clear example of why Ryans has earned that position as favorite, as he gives linebacker Christian Harris exact instructions on exactly how to pick off opposing QB, Joe Flacco, in Houton’s Wild Card win.
This is pretty awesome: #Texans HC DeMeco Ryans told LB Christian Harris exactly what he needed to do before his pick-six of Joe Flacco.

Whilst we do not see everything that DeMeco says to Harris, the former third round linebacker, it is clear that his ability to predict offensive plays and get his players into the prime position to counter it is clearly at a top level just one year into his tenure.
Let’s see if Ryans is able to continue this sweetheart type run in the playoffs, as he faces a tough coaching opponent in Super Bowl champion, John Harbaugh. The Texans come in as 9.5 point underdogs.
