The USFL begins its second straight season in April and there are a lot of things to be excited about. Football fans get to watch another football league and enjoy the game of football. The Birmingham Stallions won the 2022 USFL championship. The 2023 season will provide new storylines and teams will be ready to play. Power rankings are important in the USFL because of the limited number of teams. I try my best to provide power rankings for all eight teams in the USFL.

    1. Birmingham Stallions

The Birmingham Stallions enter the season with a chip on their shoulder. Birmingham won nine games in 2022 and look to defend their championship crown. I believe the Stallions are the best team in the USFL entering the 2023 season. Birmingham has the experience and knows how to win games. Their experience will help them navigate another exciting season on the gridiron.

    2. New Orleans Breakers

The Breakers made the playoffs in 2022 and finished second in the USFL’s south division. New Orleans has a solid roster of talented players. New Orleans is also a balanced team who can score in multiple ways. The Breakers averaged 188.1 passing yards and 115.2 rushing yards. New Orleans should be able to use its balance to stay on top of the USFL.

    3. Philidelphia Stars

Philidelphia was the runner-up for the 2022 USFL championship. The Stars were one of the best teams in the USFL and deserve to be ranked third. The Stars have experience and head coach Bart Andrus can use their experience in  2023. Andrus’ team will be hungry to win a championship and continue to show their prowess.

    4. New Jersey Generals

The Generals had the USFL’s best-rushing attack in 2022. Running the ball is important because the USFL doesn’t have a ton of established quarterbacks. New Jersey is a good team that has an opportunity to win the 2023 USFL championship. Additionally, New Jersey’s special teams were excellent. A strong run game and a strong special teams unit make the Generals a top team.

    5.  Houston Gamblers

Just like the Bandits, Houston has a lot of work to do before the season kicks off. Houston only won 3 games in 2022. My issue with Houston is their offense. Houston’s offense underachieved in 2022 and couldn’t execute during games. It’s a shame because Houston’s defense was strong in 2022. Houston has to put it together this upcoming season.

    6.  Michigan Panthers

Michigan underperformed and underachieved in 2022. The Panthers went 2-8 in 2022 and didn’t play as a unit in 2022. Michigan could have been one of the best teams in the USFL. If Michigan can learn how to win in 2023 they can rise up the rankings.

    7. Pittsburgh Maulers

Pittsburgh won one game in 2022 and will start the season looking at the top of the USFL. Mauler’s fans hope Pittsburgh can bounce back in 2023 and show their talents. Losing games hurt football teams’ chances of success. Pittsburgh must prove they win games and compete with the top teams in the USFL.

    8. Memphis Showboats

Memphis is a new team that didn’t play in 2022. Memphis doesn’t have any ground to stand on and has to prove they can compete in 2023. Memphis could go on a run and make the playoffs or struggle to catch up to the other established teams in the USFL.
