James Conner Injury
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told Arizona Sports, “I’m not quite sure yet, but it looks like [Conner could miss] a little bit of time. We’re still working through that. James will be back at some point but honestly just wanted to add another back for some depth there to make sure we’re okay there for practice and for the games.”
Conner injured his knee on a 35-yard run in the second quarter in the Cardinals’ week five loss and was unable to return to action. The running back finished with 46 yards rushing on six carries in his time during the game.
Where Arizona Goes From Here
This loss will be certainly felt by Arizona as Conner is a vital part of their offense. Before going down with the injury, the running back was able to amount to 364 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Arizona Cardinals have gotten to a 1-4 start to the 2023 season and have been struggling on all sides of the ball.
Arizona has a tough schedule in front of them which includes some NFC West matchups. Arizona’s next three games include the Los Angeles Rams, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Baltimore Ravens. It has been a rough start for the Cardinals which was expected, but now will most likely struggle more with their star running back on the sidelines for multiple weeks.
