BREAKING: Update on Tyrod Taylor’s Availability in Week 8 vs. New York Jets

The New York Giants have been struggling offensively throughout the season and they will be without Tyrod Taylor for the remainder of the game. With starting quarterback Daniel Jones missing the last few games with a neck injury and his injury status up in the air, Tyrod Taylor got the start for Week 8 against the New York Jets.

However, in the second quarter, Taylor suffered a ribs injury and was in a lot of pain. He was taken to the Giants locker room and it was ruled he would not be returning to today’s game.

Giants’ QB Tyrod Taylor has been ruled out with a ribs injury and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Taylor was sent to a local hospital in the East Rutherford area and Tommy DeVito will be the quarterback for the remainder of the game. If DeVito goes down, the emergency quarterback will be running back Saquon Barkley out of the wildcat formation.

Tyrod Taylor has been looking decently well this season as he is 53-of-80 (66.3 completion percentage) for 571 yards with two touchdown passes on the season. He struggled to get going against the Jets as he went 4-of-7 for eight yards but was able to run five times for 33 yards (6.6 yards per carry) before sustaining the injury.

What can the Giants do offensively without Tyrod Taylor?

This game against the New York Jets has not been pretty for either side as there have been four completions and three total first downs by this Giants team. With tight end Darren Waller already being ruled out earlier in the game, things look less than ideal for the 2-5 Giants team.

Without Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor, this offense is going to be focused on handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley. Third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito has not looked good and the Jets are going to continue to send pressure against this Giants offense.

Entering Week 8, the Giants ranked last in points per game (12.1) and 29th in passing yards (178.6). This is definitely going to be an uphill climb as they try to be able to move the ball and sustain drives. Tyrod Taylor could potentially be out next week depending on the severity of the ribs injury and with the Giants aiming for Week 10 for Daniel Jones to return, things look bleak.

It may be time to pull the plug before Tuesday’s NFL Trade Deadline for the Big Blue.
