Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill called Patrick Mahomes the best quarterback in the league on former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Ryan Clark’s podcast.
Just under two years ago, Hill made waves in the media by calling his new starting quarterback at the time, Tua Tagovailoa, the most accurate quarterback in the NFL in an article from CBS Sports.
“I mean obviously, Tua, he’s not your typical gunslinger, but if you were to just pay attention to his game, everything is spot on, everything is pinpoint. Ya know, ball is on time. His fundamentals are on point … Tua, he’s a (expletive) heck of a competitor. He’s a hell of a hard worker,” the Cheetah said.
Tyreek Hill clarified his statements about Tua Tagovailoa when calling Patrick Mahomes the best QB in the NFL
Tyreek Hill referred back to his previous comments about Tua Tagovailoa when he called Patrick Mahomes the best quarterback in the NFL.
Tyreek Hill has played with two pro bowl QBs but there’s one that stands above all.

Hill specified that Mahomes’ leadership ability is what separates him from the rest of the NFL. This doesn’t seem to be a slight on Tagovailoa’s ability to lead, but rather just praise for one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, Patrick Mahomes.
Tyreek Hill has seen success with Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa
Tyreek Hill spent the first six years of his NFL career with Patrick Mahomes as his signal caller. The previous two, which have been the most productive of his career, have been spent with Tagovailoa throwing him the ball.
Hill has seen a great deal of success with both quarterbacks. During his first six years in the league, Hill eclipsed over 1,000 yards receiving in all but two of them. One year was his rookie year and the other year he only played in 12 games (he had 860 yards receiving).
Hill had his most productive season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 when he had just under 1,500 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He’s had more touchdowns than that in a season twice, but he has never eclipsed the 17 yards per reception he averaged that year.

Hill has only improved during his time with the Miami Dolphins, especially because he gets to be the clear-cut No. 1 receiver on the offense as there is no Travis Kelce there to steal targets.
Hill has amassed over 1,700 yards in both of the years he has played for the Dolphins. He was one yard away from having 1,800 yards receiving in 2023 with 13 touchdowns. His 119 receptions in both years are career-high numbers.
Hill mentioned that he thinks this year was just the beginning for Tagovailoa, meaning Tagovailoa and himself could see even more improvement in 2024.
