Kristen Saban was being interviewed in a post by the media network The Next Round, and she was talking about the day her father retired from Alabama. She discovered the news while she was 30,000 feet in the sky on an airplane heading to Disney World.
Saban said she had just bought the Southwest Wi-Fi, and her phone started blowing up. Her friend, who works at the Tuscaloosa News, texted her, asking her if she could confirm the reports that her father had retired.
She couldn’t text or call anyone because she was on a plane, so she had to wait for hours before she could communicate with anyone in her family about her father’s retirement.

Saban Has A Lot Of Great Stories, And This One Joins The List
Nick Saban has a lot of great stories in his bag, and not officially telling his daughter that he was retiring and she having to found out on an airplane after everyone else is a good one.
His daughter did say she got a little bit of a heads-up that morning that something could be coming, but it wasn’t anything official.
Saturdays in the fall won’t be the same without Saban on the sidelines this year, but lucky for all fans, he will be part of ESPN’s College Game Day, so we will see a lot more of him.
