The Chase Claypool era with the Miami Dolphins will get underway this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Claypool is bullish about his new opportunity with Miami after getting traded there last week from the Chicago Bears.

“I know I’m a good teammate. I don’t have to do anything extra to like — don’t have to do too much to try and prove that. Just be (me), and I’m excited about being around a new group of guys and showing them what I can do,” said Claypool when asked how he will operate as a member of the Miami Dolphins.
His new teammates are also excited to see what the former second-round pick can do in the explosive Miami offense. Star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is one of his admirers. “I told him he looks like a freaking machine moving out there,” stated Waddle about the six-foot-four, 238-pound receiver.
How Chase Claypool Became a Miami Dolphin
Chase Claypool’s time in Chicago came to a screeching halt after the Notre Dame product expressed frustration with how the Bears didn’t put him in a position to succeed this season. Claypool was already criticized earlier in the season for what many pundits and fans called a “low-effort” performance in the team’s Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The lengthy wideout was a healthy scratch in his final game with Chicago before getting dealt to Miami. The Dolphins received Claypool and a 2025 seventh-round pick, while Chicago acquired a 2025 sixth-round pick. Claypool’s tenure in Chicago was a massive failure, with the Bears trading a first-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the receiver in 2022. Pittsburgh selected Joey Porter Jr. with the draft pick obtained for Claypool.
Chase Claypool: Rest of Season Outlook
Chase Claypool will go from one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL to the best. Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has thrown for just 3,386 yards and 28 touchdowns against 16 interceptions since the start of the 2022 season.
Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins are one of the most explosive offenses in NFL history when QB Tua Tagovailoa is healthy. Miami leads the NFL in points scored and yards this season. Tagovailoa has thrown 1,614 yards and 11 touchdowns across five games in 2023.
