When asked about a potential return for Ramsey in November, the corners coach said, “Yeah, speaking with trainers, he looks really good… When they say it’s a go, he’ll be ready.”
Jalen Ramsey: yet to take a snap as a member of the Miami Dolphins
Jalen Ramsey suffered a torn meniscus during training camp this offseason. The three-time first-team All-Pro was traded to the Miami Dolphins from the Los Angeles Rams in March of this year. The Dolphins received Ramsey, while the Rams acquired a 2023 third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. Los Angeles selected defensive end Byron Young with the draft pick, while Long has yet to play this season as he sits on injured reserve. Ramsey reconstructed his contract with Miami and is owned $55 million over the next three seasons.
Miami Dolphins without Jalen Ramsey: Great offense, Suspect defense
The Miami Dolphins house the best offense in the NFL regarding yards and points. However, the defense has been suspect in 2023. They allow 27 points per game, the 26th-best mark in the league. The secondary has struggled, allowing opposing passers to combine for 1,187 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions across five games. Quarterbacks have averaged 6.3 net yards per pass attempt, the tenth-highest number in the NFL.
Xavien Howard, Justin Bethel, and Kader Kohou remain listed as the starting corners for the Miami Dolphins. Howard is a four-time Pro-Bowler but has just two interceptions over the past two seasons. Bethel is a nickel corner, and Kohou has just two pass deflections this season. Jalen Ramsey would immediately elevate the Miami secondary. Ramsey has become one of the most consistent defensive performers in the NFL. He has been named to the Pro Bowl roster every season since 2017 and was an All-Pro honoree in 2021. The former first-round pick had four interceptions and 18 pass deflections in 2022. He also tallied the first two sacks of his career.
