So far this year, there have been a couple of Penn State players to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. Multiple have been top Penn State Players this season. While there may be more players to declare, it is still important to look back on the athletes that have made their decision before the upcoming Rose Bowl. Here are the top Penn State players to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft as of now.

Top Penn State Players: Joey Porter Jr.

Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was the first player to declare for the NFL Draft. Porter is an expected first round draft pick, as he was one of the top Penn State players this year. This season, Porter has had a total of 27 combined tackles, 21 of which were solo, and 11 pass deflections, according to Sports Reference. The only turnover stat of the season is one fumble recovery. Even without turnovers, Porter is not a cornerback the opposing team wants to throw near.

Porter has been with the Nittany Lions for four years and still had one year of eligibility left. It made sense for Porter to declare for the draft, with him being projected to go early in the 2023 NFL Draft. Porter has been one of the top Penn State players for the team. In his four years 113 total tackles, 86 of which were solo, and one sack. Porter also had one interception and one forced fumble. If Porter does get drafted in the first round, he will be the first Penn State cornerback to be drafted that early.

Top Penn State Players: Parker Washington

Wide Reciever, Parker Washington put on a show this year, and while it is great to see him move on to the NFL, the Nittany Lions will miss him. This season, Washington caught 46 passes for 611 yards, according to Sports Reference. Washington only had two touchdown receptions but averaged 13.3 yards per catch. While he may have not been the highest-scoring player on the team, he was the one to always put himself in a position to get the Nittany Lions the needed yards. Washington has been one of the top Penn State players this season.

Washington has only been with the Nittany Lions for three years but has done well. In his three seasons, Washinton had a total of 146 receptions for 1,920 yards. The receiver finished his collegiate career averaging 13.2 yards per reception and scoring 12 touchdowns. While Washington may not be a first round draft pick, he has been one of the top Penn State players, and expect him to be an earlier pick.

Top Penn State Players: Nick Tarburton

Defensive end, Nick Tarburton is the most recent Nittany Lion to declare for the 2023 NFL draft. This season, Tarburton has had a total of 18 combined tackles, ten of which were solo, and two sacks, according to ESPN. The defensive end has also forced one fumble and has had two pass deflections this season. Tarburton is one of the top Penn State players to declare for the 2023 NFL draft so far.

Tarburton has been with Penn State for three years before declaring for the draft. In his three years, the defensive end has had a total of 49 combined tackles, 25 of which have been solo, and three sacks, according to Sports Reference. Tarburton has also had a total of one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He has also forced four pass deflections. While Tarburton may not be the earliest draft pick, he can be a good steal for any team who drafts him.

While there will most likely be a couple more top Penn State players to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft, watch for these players who may go unnoticed.
