The Minnesota Vikings reportedly were interested in bringing in a seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback after losing Kirk Cousins for the season due to an Achilles injury. The Vikings wound up trading with the Arizona Cardinals for Joshua Dobbs before the deadline.
Tom Brady is wanted in Minnesota
Dobbs has played well in Minnesota. However, the Vikings had an interest in Tom Brady. According to a report by NBC Sports Boston, Scott Zolak reported the Vikings called Brady about playing in Minnesota this season after Cousins’ injury news:
“The ex-Patriots quarterback and co-host of the Zolak & Bertrand Show said Monday that the Vikings “reached out” to Tom Brady. Zolak’s reveal came during a segment (which you can watch in the video player above) where he and his co-host Marc Bertrand were talking about Bengals fans hoping Brady would come out of retirement and save Cincinnati’s season following Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury.
Zolak did not offer any specifics about the Vikings and Brady, such as when exactly the team reached out. He did say earlier in the segment that “Brady is done.”
Brady would have been an intriguing option in Minnesota. The Vikings are in the playoff hunt even without Cousins. The team has several receiving weapons, including Justin Jefferson, that had to sound appealing to Brady.
But Brady’s time in the NFL is over, not even if the rest of the league hasn’t closed their books on bringing back the legend for one more title run.
Brady is on the Vikings roster. We’ll see how done Brady is the closer we get to January.
