The Los Angeles Rams have a star-studded roster with numerous All-Pro and Pro Bowl-caliber players. The Rams have Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Bobby Wagner and Cooper Kupp to name a few high-level players. Although the roster is loaded, one positional group was called the best in the league.
The receiver room was placed below the top five. However, the d-line is properly ranked. According to Ben Linsey of Pro Football Focus, the Rams tout the best defensive line group in the NFL.

Aaron Donald is elite
The headliner of this positional group is, of course, Aaron Donald. Donald is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year award winner. Some, such as Chris Mueller, believe he is the greatest defensive player to play. The scariest part is the 31-year-old seems to get better as his career progresses.
“The Rams don’t have the same kind of depth — particularly on the edge — as some of the other teams (…),” Linsey wrote, in his summary of Donald. “That matters a whole lot less when Aaron Donald is on the roster, as he’s the most reliably elite performer in the NFL.”
That is high praise for one of the best defensive players to ever step on the gridiron. However, the positional group for the team boasts more than Donald.
Do not sleep on the other players in this positional group
Greg Gaines is one of the best, and emerging, nose tackles in the entire league. Gaines has shown improvement in each of his three seasons with the Rams. The contract-year man looks to earn himself a new contract by improving from last season, his best as a pro. If he improves from last year’s 55 tackles and four-and-a-half sacks, he will have played himself into a nice new contract.
However, he is not the only player looking to earn a new contract. A’Shawn Robinson has been underrated for years, dating back to his days on the Detroit Lions. Robinson was the leading tackler for the Rams’ defensive line, whose name isn’t Aaron Donald last season. He forced two fumbles and had 67 combined tackles plus a pair of sacks in 2021.
Underrating the Rams’ defensive line because Donald is above every other defensive lineman is not wise. This positional group is the best in the league for a reason. While Donald is a bulk of that reason, the room touts playmakers everywhere. These guys will make opposing offenses pay if overlooked.
