Vince Young is always remembered as one of the best quarterbacks in college football. However, he never won the Heisman Trophy, even though he was close to winning it in 2005.
The former Texas quarterback had a season to remember in 05, putting up 3,036 passing yards and 26 throwing touchdowns, but fell short to USC’s running back Reggie Bush.
Vince Young Was Offered The Heisman

Bush played out his mind to claim the Heisman that season. Still, the former running back wouldn’t hold onto the award long because he had to give it up after an investigation found that Bush received improper benefits during his playing days.
Since NIL is now allowed in college football, Bush reclaimed his Heisman, but when his award was taken, Young was offered the trophy since he finished runner-up to him in 2005.
Young appeared on the Paul Finebaum show on Friday afternoon and stated, ” They tried to give me the Heisman, but I wouldn’t take it.”

The 41-year-old former quarterback had high praise for Bush and didn’t want the award since Bush won it, and it was his even though it got taken away.
It was interesting to hear that Young was offered the Heisman, but it would feel the same as losing a championship game but getting the trophy because the team that won got hit with a violation years later.
Young was a great player. Even though he never won the Heisman, he had a great career and put up one of the best performances in the national championship.
