The Texas Longhorns are in their first season in the SEC Conference after spending many years in the BIG12 Conference. One of the all-time great quarterbacks for the Longhorns was Vince Young.
He will always be remembered for leading the Longhorns to a National Title against the USC Trojans in 2005. Texas has a great chance to win its first title since then in 2024.
Former Texas Longhorns Quarterback Vince Young Named To 2024 SEC Legends Class
On Tuesday, Young was 1 of 16 former players who were named to the SEC Legends Class of 2024. This is very interesting because although the Longhorns play in the SEC now, Vince Young always played in the BIG12 Conference.
Julia Stumbaugh of Bleacher Report also added about Young:
“Texas’s tenure in the Big 12 spanned from 1996 to 2023 and included Young’s run to the 2005 national championship. The Longhorns joined the SEC ahead of the 2024 season.
The SEC honor comes after Young was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame five years ago in recognition of his historic 2005 campaign, during which he became the first quarterback in FBS history to amass more than 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season.”
Vince Young would play in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles. He didn’t have the same production in the NFL as he did with the Texas Longhorns in college.

We all know this is dumb. The SEC is so insecure about it that they photoshopped out the B12 logo from the jersey.
VY is a Texas legend. SEC does not get to claim him in my book. pic.twitter.com/eZZBxPYLdq

So we can look forward to Baker Mayfield being added to the list of greatest QB’s on SEC history soon. 😂

This is wrong on many levels mainly TEXAS was never in THE SEC!

Texas and the SEC are getting annihilated in the comments for this and rightfully so.

Legend? Yes. SEC? No.

The fans have every right to bash the SEC for this move. Every Texas Longhorns fan knows that Vince Young was a BIG 12 legend and not an SEC legend.
