The Cleveland Browns season took a huge turn last Sunday when they upset the Baltimore Ravens to get their second win, and now the Browns, who were probably going to be sellers at next Tuesday’s trade deadline, could stay put.
Cleveland Browns Might Not Move Their Star Player Now

A few weeks ago, the Browns traded Veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills for a third-round pick, which was a good deal since Cooper was not playing well, wasn’t under contract for next season, and would not be heading back to Cleveland in 2025.

More veteran players were supposed to be moved by next week, and one of them was to be pass rusher Za’Darius Smith, who is 32 years old and has this and next season under contract.
There is a great chance now that Smith will stay in Cleveland after their big win last weekend. One national writer predicted whether players would be staying or going by the trade deadline and has Smith staying with the Browns.

Mike Jones from The Athletic published an article titled NFL trade deadline predictions: Will Bryce Young, Mike Williams, and others stay put or move on? And had this to say about the possibility of the Browns moving Smith.
Prediction: Staying put
Teams have called the Browns about numerous players. And while it’s already been made clear that Garrett is untouchable, his bookend — Smith — leads the team with five sacks and is generating interest. The Browns could listen to inquiries about the 32-year-old Smith, but there’s a hesitancy to unload him as well because of a belief within the organization that a season turnaround isn’t out of the question. That belief will likely prompt the Browns to hang onto Smith.

Cleveland still has a long way to go to sniff the playoffs, but if they want to make it, they must keep Smith. If the Browns had lost last weekend and fallen to a record of 1-7, there was a great chance the Veteran pass rusher would be gone, but now there is new life around the team. Smith will most likely be staying.
