The Cleveland Browns stadium drama has been going on since around February when there were reports that owner Jimmy Haslam bought land in the nearby city of Brookpark and the Browns would be looking to move from the city of Cleveland and make a giant dome just a few miles out.

No statement has been made by the Browns that a move out of the city of Cleveland is happening. Still, on Thursday, the city of Cleveland proposed the Browns with a $461 million package to renovate the current stadium.

According to Fox 8 News, Cleveland offered a proposal to the Haslam family that would commit $367 million to the stadium project and another $94 million to capital repairs and parking revenue. The city wants a response by August 12th.
The Haslams don’t have to say yes or no to this proposal by Monday, the 12th, but they need to start at least a dialogue between the two parties.

The Browns have been looking for a new stadium for a while now. The lease on their current one doesn’t come up until after 2028, so they will be playing at their current stadium for a few more years. However, the Browns have to do some with their current stadium because it hasn’t aged well. When it was put up in 1999, it was built quickly so the city could get its team back as soon as possible.

It would be neat to see the Browns get a dome and have one of these new cool stadiums that many of the NFL teams have now. It would be a better fan experience not to have to sit outside in 20-degree weather in December to watch their favorite team.
It will be interesting to see what the Haslams want to do with their options, and knowing Jimmy, he likes to go big, so a dome stadium out of the city could be coming in the next five to ten years.
