The LSU Tigers have suffered a fourth loss this season which is something the team and fans originally thought would be impossible.
The Tigers have continued to live through a hangover after winning a National Championship with arguably the best college football roster put together. LSU has lost three straight games this season to drop to 6-4, which was a record that was not supposed to be in the cards for the team. Unfortunately, coach Brian Kelly has once again proven to be someone who might not be fit for the job in Baton Rouge after traveling down from the north.
Kelly has been the leader of the LSU Tigers since taking the job over and ending his previous tenure with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The biggest question surrounding the coach when heading into the SEC was whether or not he would be able to handle the differences. Winning is winning but college football is drastically different from place to place, and Kelly has figured that out the hard way early on.
While the 6-4 record is unfortunate and Kelly should be at least partial responsible, another person who also should be held responsible is quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The quarterback looked unstoppable to start the season but has since looked like a completely different quarterback. The once beautiful spiral throws through coverage are now obvious interceptions that fans could see coming themselves.
Nussmeier had previously sat and waited for an opportunity to play for the LSU Tigers, which proved to be a long road. However, the quarterback might consider finally making the change as the relationship between Nussmeier and Kelly is seemingly not working out.
The duo were caught on camera arguing about the end of the Florida Gators play early today during the loss. Nussmeier appeared to defend himself and explain what he had been seeing on the field before what would be the end for LSU. Kelly, on the other hand, looked defeated as if he was repeating something that the quarterback has just not been picking up.
Could the LSU Tigers Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier Finally Hit the Transfer Portal?
With the top-ranked recruit scheduled to hit campus and the LSU Tigers struggling this season, Garrett Nussmeier could finally pack his bags and leave town.
Previously, Nussmeier had committed to LSU and stuck it out in Baton Rouge through multiple quarterback changes. The quarterback room has seen nearly a dozen changes throughout the time that Nussmeier has been with the program between players transferring in and out, on and off of the bench. However, Nussmeier has stuck through it all, which is a rare sight to see in the current state of college football.
Garrett Nussmeier is not a 2025 Draft Prospect. Gotta come back to school for 5th year

Garrett Nussmeier SUCKS!!!!! Needs to Go Pro or transfer out, he should not be LSU Quarterback next year

This could finally come to an end for Nussmeier, as the relationship with Kelly appears to be souring and an offensive staff change will likely occur. For Nussmeier, if the LSU Tigers are not able to beat both Vanderbilt and Oklahoma this season then a change seems imminent. The quarterback could return to college football next season for a fifth-year, or potentially try his luck in the NFL Draft with admittedly very low chances of being taken.
